Welcome
We are an institution of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Kansas dedicated to linguistic research conducted in collaboration with speakers of native languages in the places where they live and thrive.
Highlights of our research

Kiowa
Dr McKenzie's research with the Kiowa language of Oklahoma fills in gaps in documentation and sheds light on how words and meanings are built in language.

Bantu research
In collaboration with speakers and linguists in Kansas City and Africa, Dr. Gluckman leads a number of projects on the syntax, semantics, and morphology of Bantu languages, particular those of East Africa.

Kiksht
Dr Philip Duncan's collaboration with the Wasco-Wishram people of the Warm Springs Reservation in Oregon helps understand the Kiksht language once spoken there.

Student research
Our students conduct independent and collaborative research on a wide variety of languages and topics.
